Howdy everyone...

How is everyone doing today? Good I hope. I am sorry that I haven't posted recently but we have been dealing with the crud and pneumonia in the house for the last month. My husband came down with it first and then gave it to me... Well I was sick for about 2 weeks with coughing, fever, congestion, and just all around feeling bad . Well wouldn't you know that my dad now has it and then we think my mom has pneumonia. Anyway it's been a sick house here but things are settling down and I am feeling better so I thought I would share some of the cards I have created over the last few weeks, actually these were made before I got sick and then after, but hey what can I say right? Anyway without further ado here they are.

This is one of two cards I made for a friends mother. She commissioned me to make these for her Granddaughter-in-laws.  Tell me what you think....  :

I did change the sentiment from Great Granddaughter-in- law to For my Granddaughter-in-law since the ladies receiving the cards are not Great GDIL's.  This card is 5x7 and was made with patterned paper called Lori Sieberts Everyday Brights with Glitter pages.  You can't really see it in the pictures but some of the stripes have glitter and the big flower in the center is glittered.  The butterflies were stamped with Versamark on a batik paper and then embossed with clear embossing powder and then fussy cut out and adhered with pop dots for dimension.  The ribbon was glued on each end and then streamers were tied to it to make a bow.  I printed the sentiment on my printer and attached it with pop dots.

Here is number two:

This was one was made with the same paper as the one above just  a different color and I cut out the large flower by hand and adhered it with pop dots.  The butterfly was done the same way also, but I added two silver brads to the center of the body.  Tied two coordinating colors of ribbon together and glued them to the center of the flower.

I have a couple more cards to show you but will have to add them later since my hubby is yelling at me that we need to get ready to run and pick up some meds before the pharmacy closing... Life is wonderful isn't it!  Hope you all have a fantastic day and will be back soon to post the rest of my pics.  Hugs to all my followers and readers.

Have a scrappy day!!!

Challenge?

Anyone ever do projects for challenges?  I follow a lot of challenge blogs and am a member of Splitcoast Stampers but have never entered any challenges.  Well yesterday I decided that I was going to enter the Sketch Challenge blog on SCS and wouldn't you know it, their system went down.  Sign? hmmm maybe... and usually I listen to "signs" but yesterday I decided that I would not listen to this "sign" and once the system came back up I went in and submitted my post.  I had fun doing the sketch challenge and am thinking I will probably do it again.  Here is what I submitted for the challenge and please let me know what you think!!!

Pretty In Pink

I hope you all enjoy this... and I look forward to seeing your creations.

Two new techniques in one card....

At least it is for me lol.... There are several techniques floating around out there that I have been wanting to try for months but have been too chicken to try lol... I have been... I will admit I have a box I live in and stamp by.... and if the technique is outside that box I am in I am afraid to try it because I hate to fail at anything... and believe me since I started stamping like 5 or 6 years ago I have had many failures there... but I kept working at it until I did something I could be proud of.  Well this is one of the cards where I am happy that I tried it and will try it again but am hoping that the next time it looks more like what I have envisioned instead of turning out the way it wants to... lol.  Sometimes I think my stamps and paper have minds of their own and just look at me and say " Awe she doesn't know how she wants this to look so lets just do it our way and she will be satisfied with it." Ok before you ask.... NO I am not certifiably crazy, and I do not talk to my paper and stamps.... much... and usually I only talk to things that talk back, like tv's and radio's, oops you didn't hear that lol.  Soooo anyway on to the card.  The two techniques I tried were the Center Step Card and the Chalkboard Technique.  They were both easier than I thought and I am satisfied with how it turned out.  Please let me ( and my stamps and paper) know what you think!!!  We I love comments.

I hope you like it!!!

Have a scappilicious day!!!!

Another NSBR post....

Ok... so a few weeks ago I did a post about our "friend" in the toilet... well would you believe that we have found "friend" number 2 in the toilet.... swimming around... like it was it's own personal swimming pool?  For those of you who haven't read the earlier NSBR post... we have found 2 frogs in our toilet so far.... the first one was just hanging out on the side... the second one was swimming in it... lol.  Luckily this time dad found it, not me.... THANK YOU GOD!!! lol.  I am terrified of frogs... I can't stand to see them unless they are in an aquarium or hopping along the road outside... I do not want these critters in my house lol, and most certainly not my toilet.  It's ok... go ahead and laugh... I have and so has my entire family... so chuckle and share this story its ok... lol.  Anyway that was the highlight of my week... NOT!!!  Has anything like this ever happened to any of you?  if so leave a comment with your story and we will all laugh and shudder together... lol

Happy Scrapping and may the creativity flow!!!

Pumpkin Spice Design Team Call

Okay this as a last minute thing.  I found out that Pumpkin Spice was having an open call for design team members and decided ok I am going to do this... So here I am scrambling to get something done since this is the last day of the call.  One of my favorite papers is Crate paper... well the challenge for this team was to pick 2 paper lines on the list they have on their blog and create something with those 2 lines... I chose Crate Papers Restoration and Cosmo Cricket's Material Girl.  I love both these lines and thought the papers matched so well together.  Please let me know what you think.  So here goes:

The recipe is as follows:
Top of card: Crate Paper Restoration
Bottom of card: Cosmo Cricket Material Girl
Punched Strip: Crate Paper Restoration
Sentiment: Cosmo Cricket Material Girl Tag that I cut out from the background, the phrase and bird are stamped in Chocolate chip and Elements of style stamp set by Stampin' Up
Pearls and ribbon are from Joann's from the wedding section and they are assorted sizes.

Hope you like it and please leave a comment to let me know what you think!!!

Have a scraptastic day!!!

It's a new creation.....

Well Hello... Good Sunday to you all. I have a new creation to show you today. I made the box a while ago but just got around to decorating it. I haven't filled it with anything yet because I am trying to decide what to put in it lol. But I like the way it turned out. I hope you like it too. Please let me know what you think about it!!! Also the ribbon flower on the front is one I made and I will post a tutorial on how to make them later. Have a great Sunday and try and stay dry. It looks like its going to come a terrible thunderstorm here, the sky is black and it looks like its about 8 pm at night outside.
So on to the pictures:

NSBR Story...

Hi... I know I have been absent the last week or so but have had a lot going on lately.  BTW Happy 4th of July for all those that celebrate it.  I hope to have a new project posted here this week but for now I am going to share a Non Scrapbook Related story....

Ok now to the funny story... Anyone who knows me knows I am a night owl... I usually sleep a little later in the morning because mom does and then stay up later at night because mom does... well it was about 1:00 this morning that I decided I was going to bed... I always use the bathroom before I go so I proceed into the bathroom and turn the light on... well the toilet is across from the door so I glance over at the toilet and there is something on the inside side of the toilet... Now before I tell you I am a complete city girl... I don't like critters of any kind other than dogs, cats, birds, and fish. Well I see this something inside the toilet... well at first I thought someone used the bathroom and left a "mess" for me to clean up... but then as I moved a little closer to the toilet the "mess" moved.... I freaked out and slammed the lid down and went running across the hall to my room to wake up hubby... he gets up and runs in there in his underwear... and starts laughing... comes out and says " its just a frog" i am like " yeah but its in our TOILET!!! Frogs are supposed to be outside in creeks and ponds and such not in my TOILET!!!" so I get a jar and he (my dh) captures the ugly little frog and puts his pants on and hauls him outside.... Needless to say, the lid to the toilet will stay down all the time now and I will always turn on the light no matter what time of day so that I can check out the toilet before using it... if a frog can get in there so can other critters.... ok so that's my funny story for the day...

Have a Scrappy 4th !!! Hugsssss

Fathers Day Card.... Continued

Ok its me again.  I posted pictures yesterday of my dad's fathers day card.  Well I decided that since the card was so unique that I need unique packaging for the card.  Rather than use a standard envelope I decided that since the card is a shirt, it needed a shirt box for its packaging rather than a regular envelope.  So here is the box I created and now I am trying to decide whether to just tie ribbon around it or make a paper bow to go with it... what do you think?  So here are the pics of the shirt box!! Hope you like it!!!

The lid of the box has fishing lures, fishing rods, all types of things to do with fishing.  I thought it was appropriate for Father's Day, don't you?  Let me know what you think!!!

Have a Scrappy Day!!!!!

Fathers Day Card....

Happy Tuesday.  As you know Fathers Day is this Sunday.  I have been trying to think of a card to make for my dad for Sunday and could not figure out anything.  Then I found a video tutorial for a folded paper shirt.  I saw it and immediately started looking for paper to make one for dad for FD.  I hope you like it!!  Here it is:

Card Creation...

I am a member of SplitCoast Stampers (SCS) and there are so many talented ladies there.  One of my friends on the site was Queen for the Day (QFTD63).  The challenge for this is to create a card by CASEing one of the "Queens" cards and then post it to the gallery.  I will show her card and then my version of it. Granted I am working with limited supplies since I am in one place and my papercrafting supplies are in another.  So I did what I could with what I had lol.  Hope you like it.  And if you get the chance go on over to SCS and check it out.  Here is a link to Splitcoast Stampers.  Now on to my creation and my inspiration for my creation.

My Creation:

My inspiration from Mary's gallery:

Go on over and check it out... There are tons of tutorials and inspiration around every corner!!

Apologies.....

For being absent.  I was working on a blog post on Thursday of last week and a box popped up on my screen.  It said something about Adobe Flash.exe had stopped working and that I needed to re-boot my computer. Well I re-booted my computer and guess what happened?  Yep... it was a virus.  My computer went haywire.  It kept telling me that my hard drive was corrupt and that there were bad sectors here and there and everywhere.  I freaked out.  See my computer is sitting on the dining room table, since I have to be in the room with my mom.  I am her caregiver so I stay close so that I can keep an eye on her.  Well needless to say that whoever comes in the door seems to want to perch at my computer and "borrow" it.  That said, I have no idea how the virus got onto my computer but have spent the weekend trying to get it sorted out.  I have a warranty on my computer so I assumed I would have to send it off to have it fixed, well thank God I did not have to do that.  I called and they walked me through wiping everything out and setting it back to factory defaults.  With that being said, I can say I lost everything I had saved on my computer, all my pictures, all my digital scrapbook pages, all my pictures of cards I have made, everything.  I did back everything up a few months ago so thankfully I do have part of it but I can never get back everything I lost.  So to end this blog post I am going to say this, watch the websites you visit, be careful about what is being downloaded to your computer, and above all else Back up your computer on a regular basis.

Cards I made recently...

These are two cards I made recently... I haven't been able to create or finish anything since the tornado's hit the area because my sister and her two children have been staying with us. We are so thankful they are safe.  These are two cards I made several weeks ago that take on my love of quilting.  I have been trying to incorporate quilt designs into my cardmaking and decided to use this design...

Then I also have this love of butterflies.  This card uses a butterfly and flower along with the basic 9 patch quilt block for the background.  The butterfly is attached with pop dots on one wing so that the other is off the page.  I love the way this card turned out.

Hope you like these... please leave a comment and let me know what you think!!

Hello...

Its me again.... I know its been a while but I have had lots and lots of things going on here.  I don't know if I mentioned it before but I have been taking care of my parents for the last year, full time.  My husband and I locked up our house and moved in with my parents so that I could take care of them.  Its been a roller coaster ride let me tell ya.  Things have settled down a little bit but unfortunately I have had a few issues of my own.  But that's behind me... for now anyway.

I have been a busy little beaver, creating creating and creating.  A friend of mine who is sooo very creative and inspiring did an exploding box or some people refer to it as a scrapbook in a box.  Well since I have never made one, she inspired me to try it.  The first one was ok.... the inner layers were not the right sizes lol so I put it on a shelf undecorated ( thank God I used scraps to make it huh?) anyway I decided that I would work at it till I get it right.. so I made another one... It turned out much better... except the lid is a little bigger than I wanted it... but it works lol.   I am in process of decorating it and once I do I will post some pics of it on here.

I am also trying out for a couple of different design teams... I would love to be on one that inspires me and makes me want to get up and create something new every day... hopefully it will work out.

I am also considering submitting something for publication... But haven't decided about that yet... but I will let you all know if and when I do and what the outcome is.

Well I guess I will get back to decorating my box... keep watching for pics of my box and other  gadgets I hope to make....

See ya later!!!
